Slingshots

The Guatemalan slingshot is a traditional handicraft whose elaborate carvings use imagery derived from the animal kingdom, Mayan and Catholic iconography, myths, and historic events.  Each is a unique piece of art reflecting the value of the artisan but each also serves as a  cultural artifact.
