Totonicapan , Guatemala corte (skirt)

1970's corte woven on a foot loom.  This is all one Mayan woman's skirt.  Because it is joined on each end, she will get inside it and wrap it several times, tuck in her huipil, and belt it.  Very intiricate weave with bands of jaspe running throughout the cloth.  Because this is an older piece there is some fading of the colors which gives it a nice subdued look.  The older the fabric gets the softer the colors and the material become.  Excellent condition for it's age.
